Ron DeSantis Promises to Ban CBDCs if Elected President
‘Current Florida Governor and GOP presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis continued his campaign against central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), vowing a ban if he were elected president.
“Done, dead, not happening in this country,” said DeSantis at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa last Friday. “If I am the president, on day one, we will nix central bank digital currency.” –Coin Desk

RFK Jr. Announces Bold Plan To Back Dollar With Bitcoin, End Bitcoin Taxes
‘Speaking at a Heal-the-Divide PAC event, Democratic Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. outlined specific Bitcoin-focused policies that he would enact as president, including gradually backing the U.S. dollar with bitcoin and making bitcoin profits exempt from capital gains taxes.
“My plan would be to start very, very small, perhaps 1% of issued T-bills would be backed by hard currency, by gold, silver platinum or bitcoin,” Kennedy said, describing his vision for returning to a hard currency standard in the U.S.’ – (NASDAQ)

US SEC accepts six spot bitcoin ETF proposals for review
‘The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has accepted applications to create spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds from six firms including BlackRock for review, the first step in the agency’s process for deciding whether or not to approve the latest round of proposals.
The SEC also formally acknowledged applications from Bitwise, VanEck, WisdomTree, Fidelity and Invesco for similar spot bitcoin ETFs, with those proposals appearing on the Federal Register Tuesday and Wednesday.‘ – (Reuters)

Solana Labs unveils Solang to enhance Ethereum compatibility
‘Solana Labs has announced the launch of Solang, a new compiler designed to smooth the transition for Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) developers into the Solana ecosystem.
In a blog post on Wednesday, Solana Labs said developers familiar with Solidity can use Solang to write apps on the Solana network. Solidity is Ethereum’s primary smart contract programming language.
This latest cryptocurrency news comes a few hours after Neon EVM’s release of a similar tool. Solang seeks further to bridge the gap between the Solana and Ethereum ecosystems.’ – (Coin Journal)
